Currently I have a pair of Totem Tabu driven by Pass Aleph 3 power amp.
I´m considering upgrade my Ls to Usher Be 718 Tiny Dancer. But I have not chance to listen to Usher LS since there are not importers or dealers in my country.
Audiophiles, reviewers, melomans who have listen both of these LS (Totem and Usher) would you give me some information, opinion, advise at this respect?
a) Is Pass Alph 3 (30 W @ 8 Ohms / 60W @ 4 Ohms) / Usher Tiny Dancer a good match or I have to upscale my amp?
b) to change Totem Tabu for Usher is a lateral movement ar a really opgrade?
Thank you in advance for your helping me at this topic.
Sincerely
Tawalile
I have not heard the Totem Tabu, but know that Totem makes very good sounding loudspeakers overall. The Usher Be-718 is an outstanding speaker. Whether it is an upgrade or a lateral movement is impossible to say without having heard both of them.
The Pass amplifier might be enough power for the Usher in a small room for music played at low-to-moderate levels, but to get the most out of the Be-718 you'll need more power.
I really thank you Mr Harley your opinion. On the other hand, what do you think could be best match for Usher: ss or tubes amp? how many watts minimun? What about Something like Primaluna Dialogue or Bryston 2B SST (I have not much money to spend and I have to consider the import taxes -custmos-) I´ll thank you an advise at this respect. I I know You could reccommends me to read the Recommended Components list but these issue arrived missprinted and impossible for me to read)
My best regards.
It depends on how large your room is and how loudly you play music.
If you listen to smaller scale music in a moderately sized room at reasonable listening levels, you can get by with about 30-40W. The Pass amplifier is outstanding, and might be a good match. You should try this combination (Pass and Usher) before switching amplifiers.
