ultimate A/V setup guide?

Anyone know of a online a/v guide that can possibly help me?

I have a Media Center PC, a Harmon/Kardon avr500, game consoles and a a/v switch for them and 5.1 PC speakers with a console adapter. I just can't get it all to work together.

I know this is a hodge podge but I'm on a really small budget (the Harmon/Kardon was given to me by my dad as he upgraded.)

If anyone has a generalized guide that I can use to get more familiar with a/v setup that would be sweet.
