Tube Rolling Recommendations on Prima Luna Prologue 8

Carolina Blue -- Thu, 02/12/2009 - 00:53

I recently purchased a Prima Luna Prologue 8 CDP as a component in my first audio system.  I have two questions... Where would be a good place to find the tubes (NOS Mullard CV 4003/12AU7 and the Sylvania gold pin 5751) that Dick Olsher stated provided the best sound from this CD player?  Plus, what are some other tube recommendations that this group would recommended to get the sweetest midrange on vocals with the Prologue 8?  Thanks.

Carolina,

I would assume that a good place to get the tubes would be from Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio, he would also be able to suggest which tube you want for the sweetest midrange vocals. Kevin is the man behind Prima Luna in the USA.

BTW, what is the rest of your system?

The rest of my system consist of a Dodd Audio tube preamp, Quad 909 SS amp, Salk Song Towers (w/LCY ribbon tweeter), Reality Cables IC's & speaker cables, an Acoustic Zen "El Nino" power cord (for Prima Luna CDP) and a WireWorld "Stratus" power cord (for the Quad 909).
