Tube Reel to Reel Crown GC-SX Tape deck

mtuttle99 -- Tue, 08/21/2007 - 16:35

I have a Reel to Reel tube Crown GC-SX 2 channel, half track tape deck that was originally set up by in Minneapolis by Robert Fulton (owner of FMI). Is there a market for this deck? Which site would you recommend that I post it for sale? It is currently in Boise, ID. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

 While there are several sites, such as the ubiquitous E, where you can sell your deck, the market and demand for decks, regardless of their pedigree, is limited.

Also consider that you will need to pack the deck VERY WELL for shipping - multiple boxes and the ability to withstand a four-foot drop without damage.

After all is said and done you may be better off keeping it. I have two Revox A-77's that work fine yet have so little commercial value that I'll have them untill I die...

Contact me & I will direct you to the only two 'Authorised' Crown reel to reel repair facilities.  They provide quality service-updates-repairs (parts) of ALL early mono tube decks, up to Pro-8oo series Crown transports & electronics.  They will also convert to IEC Eq, for you Tape Project people.   Living in Ocala Florida, I had my Crowns upgraded right here in Ocala by one of these facilities.

aSorry for the LONG delay in replying. Although I've had many decks over time, My Tascam 42B is new to me. I bought one from a seller in NJ (where I use to live). It's a 9 of 10 condition. All functions work, less one very very small scratch by the left tension roller plate. The heads look virtually unused. The ceramic capstan shaft has very little "oxide" on it. I put it in a nice road case. It's for sale at $950.00. I have a 1996 Tascam BR-20. I bought it as NEW OLD STOCK! I never used it, it's in it's original box. Never turned it on. (long story). It too is for sale at $1900.00. My Crown is a CX822-P4. That is a 2-track record/play, 4-track play type deck. It' been fully refurbished, all new 'caps' hew heads and in MINT+ condition in original Crown road case. It's was cal'ed for 185nw/mb @0VU by: Charles Ciska

It too is for sale @$2200.00

I also sell (NEW) beautiful Gold anodized "Precision .090 in. thick" 6 screw type NAB reels. with either phenolic center hub or machined aluminum hub. $180.00ea. You really can't get these anywhere. J-Corder / DarklLab reels don't come close at about the same price.

I need repair on my Crown SX-824 deck. Since I live in Orlando I would gladly drive to Ocala to obtain reliable service for it and avoid the perils of shipping it. Please let me know where I can have this machine serviced.
Thank you;

I am interesting in possibly purchasing a Akai or a Tascam or Teac reel to reel tape recorder with two nice 10.5 in reels with no problems and gone through completely.   The price has to be very inexpensive though.
