Tone Controls Bass-Treble

Thinking of a new total system, two channel, and have many recordings (CD and LP) that need a little boost or reduction in order to make them more enjoyable.

Does any one have opinions ( I am sure there are many) on which preamp would be best for this purpose. So far the brand names that come to mind that have a product in their line with tone controls are MacIntosh, Accuphase, Rotel, and I think the correct name L-A (German company).

MacIntosh if you can afford it.  Vincent if you think you do not need balance control.  NAD is an option, like Vincent no mono switch. Parasound is very great for the money spent.
