They are the current rave in forum elsewhere. One long taintless thread without a single negative remark made in regard to their sound, nor any of those controversial questioning their 'value' (high prices--like most of many Magico thread's have). Having not heard them, curious as to what these many enthusiasts hailed as being the perfect speakers sound like.
Anyone here had the opportunity to listen to one (Piano Cera, Contriva Diacera, Sunray)? Or better still, compared them to some other highly regarded 'more known' box designs so as to get a better feel / reference of their sound. What supporting electronics drove them best? Looking at their web, products seem to be well design and meticulously executed. Are they the real deal?

After having listened to both the Contriva and Sunray extensively for over a year I decided to order the Piano Cera (a speaker that I find more appropriate for the size of my listening area). In my opinion the word "distortion" is not relevant to a Tidal that is why everyone is talking about the less coloured, fastest and more accurate speaker in the world. I have never listened anything that comes even close and my curent speaker is considered to be a giant killer (I own the Hyperion Sound 938)
The tidal speakers are indeed meticously executed. They are a hand labour product in the finest meaning of the word. I listened extensively to the Tidal T1 Sunray in my listening room, that is the Sunray with the bigger (and very expensive) Duelund silver capacitors. On the website of Tidal Audio (they are located in Köln, Germany) you can find a picture of these capacitors. This Sunray is an extremely good speaker, giving huge amounts of information without ever sounding harsh or bright. Due to the special crossover Jörn Janczak developed the T1 Sunray never sounds 'ceramic' as a lot of other speakers using accuton drivers do. They sound utterly smooth. As a tube guy I preferred the T1 Sunrays with tube amplificatio (I played the T1 speakers with Kondo equipment), but I suppose a lot of people would prefer solid state amplification. In short, try to get a listen to them and find out yourselve how good the Tidal speakers are. Another suggestion: look at the www.audioexotics.hk website and you can find quite some interesting comments of various Tidal loudspeaker and amplification users. Lastly, I can fully recommend to call Jörn himself. He is a nice and enthousiastic person to talk to and he can give you all the information you need about his speakers.
i have owned , quite enjoyably i must add, the tidal sunray for 2 monthes now. these speakers are indeed very well made ,designed and excecuted. and sound terrific to boot. when asked to describe their sound, i'm lost for words, as there is no signature 'sound' to the tidal. what ever is in the upstream of the somic chain is revealed thru the sunrays.
in the upcoming ces they'll have 3 tidal models, and the sunrays among them. i would defenitely put these speakers on anyone's shor list of"' need to hear before i buy", at the ces.
I'm a V3 user looking to upgrade. The Magico M5 initially, however, unfortunately (fortunately?) the one designated for my country in October was shipped elsewhere first so have to wait for next shipment scheduled in Jan-Feb. In the meantime, from friends, threads and hearsay, Tidal got my attention and perked my interest too. As to go M5 It seems I would have to buy also the Soulution 700 or FMA 1811 to properly drive them (costlier option). So did considered the Sunray (to use with current amps) with assumption of them being an easier drive than M5. But as delivery time too long (ex Tidal factory April '10 and will only receive them around June), I again look for alternatives. They have here in stock now only the Contriva Diacera SE, which while I'm seriously contemplating---come news of the new Magico Q5. As I'm actually pretty much happy with Magico's house sound, looks like my move on new speakers would have to be temporarily put on hold until after their release at CES and see how the 'Q' compares. Anyway thanks for all the great inputs so far.
You should try to listen to the Kaiser Kawero. Best sound of the show at RMAF 08 and RMAF 09
