I received a Crutchfield catalog today and was amazed to see the new Thiel 3.7 on the cover -- one can now buy Thiels and PS Audio products from them. Could this be the new age for high end sales? Disadvantage: one pays list price.....Advantages: 30 day home trial and really good customer service. I'll take that deal anyday! Given the problems I have auditioning decent speakers due to the lack of dealers round these parts, and the complete unwillingness to even provide home auditions, I wonder if anyone has heard the new Thiel 3.7 and would share impressions?
thanks
Julian
The web site indicates the speakers are drop shipped from the factory. No inventory costs for Cutchfield and no harm to the retailers since no discount is involved. Buying direct should be the next step like Ascend and Axiom.

I bought my Thiel 3.7 from Crutchfield before any of the local dealers had one on demo.
To me the huge advantage of Crutchfield was the 30 day trial period in my own listening room. It would have been tough for me to make a purchase decision of that magnitude based on just a few hours in the radically different acoustic of a dealer's showroom.
If you decide to return the speakers, you must pay the return freight, which is a few hundred dollars. To me that risk was well worth it for the 30 day evaluation.
