The Grammys

Steven Stone -- Mon, 02/09/2009 - 11:10

I'll admit it, I watched the Grammys from the beginning to the end.  May I have some of that back please?

The sound was far worse than previous years, and also unlike the last couple of years, surround sound was abandoned in favor of front-channels only (at least on the Direct TV local Denver feed).

High Points - John Mayer, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Keith Urban doing Bo Diddly. The Four Tops tribute - Jamie Foxx can SING. Sugarland performance. Kate Bekinsale.

Biggest Surprises - Steve Wonder and the Jonas brothers doing "Superstitious."  WOW. Perhaps the best performance of the night. Alison Krauss and Robert Plant's award haul.  Who would have thought the worst work of both their careers would be so popular?

Low Points - Jennifer Hudson's dress, Miley Sirus and Taylor Swift trying to sing together. Whitney Houston - what was she on? Radiohead - even a drum corps didn't save it from being a big yawn. Coldplay -that opening solo piano number was truly painful even the Al Green tribute minus Al Green's singing voice (he was noticeably flat) was better.
