Hello,
I am not nearly an expert, neverthless I am doing my best to learn as much as possible about Hi Fi equipment everyday.
I bought my first equipment a couple of years ago which includes:
B&Ws 683, Arcam FMJ A28 Integrated Amp, NAD C 515BEE CD and Music Hall DAC 25.3.
I really like the B&Ws but are not very happy with the Arcam A28 since it only delivers 75wpc and i think I am not nearly receiving the best of the speakers, actually, i have overheated the amp several times.
I have the intention of upgrading my equipment, possibly by changing the A28 for a Krell S300-i. Can this integrated amp be used as a pre amp when you want to grow?. Your feedback would be really appreciated. Budget around ($3,000)
Besides the amp, i am not sure what else I could do to upgrade my system, subwoofer? turntable? blu ray? Any ideas?
THANK YOU!!!
The Krell S-300i would be an upgrade for certain. After that, look into purchasing a better DAC. After that point, I would recommend upgrading the loudspeakers.
Zach, have you ever bought used equipment? This amp y used as demo on a shop and has around 50 hours. I live in Mexico City and here it is very difficult to find equipment as easy as in the US. I know the S-300i is somewhat an old model. What would you do?
50 hr. is not a lot of time for an amplifier, especially a Krell. Just make sure it is an authorized dealer, and it comes with the full factory warranty.
Thanks a lot Zach. Cheers!!
