SXRD/LCOS RPTVs vs. Plasma

With the great reviews in TPV of the Sony SXRD and JVC 56" HD-ILA, might it be "better" to get one of them rather than a discount plasma?
(think of a budget ~$3K).

Is off-axis viewing still a big issue with this latest generation of RPTVs or have they closed the gap with plasma?

Which looks better on SD TV and DVD?
