Has anyone ever built their own subwoofers or speakers? I have two 12in JL Audio W3-D4's from an older car stereo. The subwoofers are excellent and I can build the enclosures easily but my concern is an amp and signal transfer, etc. I only plan on using one (maybe both if I move) but I want to try it b/c if I sell them I won't get but like $50 so I wanna try. Anyway, any recomendations or How to advice. Is this a bad idea? I know a lot about car audio, but have grown up so I want to start on a home system.
You can do it, but the challenge will be determining the box parameters for your particular woofers and then creating a crossover. I don't know that you'll save money in the end.
