Sports and fast motion

What do I need to look for in terms of specs for fast motion video? I'm asking because the recent Perfect Vision TV reviews mentioned the difference between refresh rates (specifically 60 Hz vs 120 Hz, and in one case 75 Hz), and also response time (4ms, 8ms, etc.)

Are these important specs, and if so what should I be looking for? Thanks

Watch programs or DVDs with such material before buying. LCDs seem to suffer from this more than other types. Always audition any audio and video component before you buy especially with material that may demosntrate a weakness ie bass response, motion blur, color accuracy etc. Also look at response times etc. Sony's have response times of 2.5ms rise and fall.

Sheepherder's advice is good. Lower response times and faster refresh rates should both help with motion blur on LCDs, but by all means, take some material that you know to the store and try it out on displays you're considering.
