I do believe a couple of points should be made: (1) Spendor Speakers (Classic Line) have an extremely Tube-friendly impedence, making them a great match for P-P tube amps; (2) until Mr Hughes worked on the Harbeth cross-overs , most if not all Harbeth speaker were NOT an easy load for amps generally restricting one to S-S amps. I have not heard a S-S amp I would want to use in my reference system. (To me to use a $50,000-$100,000 S-S amp to get the mid-range magic of an EL-34 amp goes beyond the pale). I know that there are bad Tube Amps, but the point is I do believe that a very good tube amp and Spendor 1/2 speakers or the earlier SP1 speakers are unbeatable in the Mid-range where most of the magic is in music.
