Speaker match for Lexicon R-V8 and RT-10

I mostly use my system to watch movies and listen to CDs in stereo mode. I matched my Lexicon RV-8 and RT-10 to the Revel Concerta Series (F12, C12, S12 and B12) speakers, but I'm not completely happy with the sound. I'm not sure if it is the room's acoustics but I'm gonna first blame it on the speakers, so, which ones in the $5000 range is recommended for my gear?

Thanks,

I'm perplexed by your refusal to "blame the room."

I'm familiar with the gear in your system and while it certainly isn't in the euphonic "warm and fuzzy" school of sound, it isn't thin and nasty either.

I would humbly suggest that adding some damping, especially for reducing first and early wall reflections and floor bounce should result in a far more musical system.

Thanks for your suggestions... what I meant is that it is cheaper to replace my speakers than to adjust or modify the room for acoustics.

My system is placed in the family room which is about 450 ft2. and indeed, it has lots of windows and an area rug. The RV-8 is supposed to be one of the best receivers (according to several articles I've read) and I'm not sure the Revel Concerta is at the same quality (sonic) as the Lexicon gear.

Will I get the most out of the RV-8 and RT-10 with other speakers? What is you opinion with the Martin Logan Spire or Quad ESL? Or should I stick to coil transducers?

Sorry for so many questions but I'm no expert... I'm a frustrated audiophile!

For some reason one sentence of my previous message was not posted... the correct sentence is "The RV-8 is supposed to be one of the best receivers (according to several articles I've read) and I'm not sure the Revel Concerta is at the same quality (sonic) as the Lexicon gear..."

The Revel Concerta is an excellent speaker, and not to blame for the sound of your system. I must agree with Steven Stone: Try some techniques for absorbing the first reflection off the sidewalls. I don't know what your room is like, but hanging a rug on the sidewall between you and the speakers often works wonders.

Thank you both for your suggestions...
