I was at Costco the other day and noticed a Sony DVD recorder no bigger than a paperback book that allows you to plug in any kind of flash card, iLink or video and immediatly burn the images, movies or data to DVD. It even has a tiny LCD screen. I guess it's like having an external DVD burner but a lot more fun.Cost about $250. It sure looked neat. Has anyone had experience with this gizmo?

There are many devices like this, though most have been based on nard drives. Primary use has been to archive images from cameras in the field so that you can re-use memory cards. As memory card prices have fallen, my impression is that this usage has become less interesting. What did you think of a uses for the Sony device?
I'm looking for an easy and efficient way to copy multiple vhs tapes (ie. 4 -6 vcrs) at once to a pvr or dvr to be organized and transfered later on through DVD or Streaming, filessharing. and what not . I tried a Sony VRD-MC3 but would like to accomplish more work with smaller equipment. It would need to connect to a screen so I can que the tapes. Also, can i record (multiple vcrs) remotely through hava or slingbox?
