Sony RCD-W2000ES

juggernaught1@hotmail.com -- Sat, 10/29/2011 - 18:11

I have the Sony RCD-W2000ES connected to the Lexicon RV 8 via analog and coax digital. Which would be best for stereo music, Monitor Audio S 8. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your time Steven. The real question would be which one would have better DAC. I've read in a previous thread that you have had some experiance with the RV 8. Is there a way to listen via CD digital input without having to go into the setup menu to change the THX settings everytime to disable the subwoofer and play left/right fullrange?
Thanks again

I used the Lexicon MC-12B in various versions from 1.0 through the HD. I used stereo subs w/a 60 Hz x-over. You could set up the CD input for default to direct stereo w/o subs. You could also designate your CD input to be stereo while DVD would be multi-channel from the same physical input on the MC-12, I'd check to see if you can do the same thing with the RV 8.

I also remember that within the set-up on the MC-12 you could have it select the mode based on the input signal. PCM would be strictly two-channel while AC-3 or DTS signal would default to multi-channel.

What amp would be a good match for the Monitor Audio Silvers? Thanks

That really depends on your tastes in sound and music. The RV-8's amps are quite decent, but you could try something with tubes for the right and left mains and drive the rest with your receiver.
