Scott and Larry,
Just had my new Sony delivered yesterday. Used the reviews of the previous model and Sony LCD XBR to help with set up. Got close but there
are a few set up options that aren't covered in either review. Going to enjoy the set for awhile and let it burn in. BTW the street price for this set is under $1800 from local DC area stores.
I couldnt find set that had a picture that came close in a similar screen size that wasnt at least twice as expensive. really liked the Pioneer 1080p plasma but it was only 50 inches for more than twice the price. Only set that had picture that might be better under certain circumstances.
Nothing else from Toshiba, Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Mitsubishi, LG or Fuijitsu cam close.
And just in time to watch the game this weekend Notre Dame versus Duke
2 bad teams with 3 wins total on national TV. The beer is chilling. Who cares about Michigan versus Ohio State when you can watch these two losers. And Michigan and OSU alumns dont laugh too hard at Notre Dame that could be you in a few years.
Thansk again Larry and Scott
Glad you're enjoying the set! You're right, it's a wonderful TV. I just reviewed the 60-inch version, and you'll be happy to know that I recognized it as the Best RPTV of 2007 in our big Editor's Choice Awards, which will appear in Issue 84/January 2008.
As for setup, here are the settings I used for my review:

These settings should be considered as a starting point only; you may need to tweak them based on your specific source devices and sample-to-sample variations between the TV you bought and the one I reviewed. But they should get you in the ballpark.
Enjoy!
