After reading review on the new Sony XBR SXRD rptv's I was really excited and immediately went out to view. Definitley the set I would buy except that even the 50 incher won't fit in the space I have due to outboard side mounted speakers. Since so few people actually use them why do manufacturers continue this practice? Is there any way to find out if this set will eventually be available without speakers or with detachable speakers? :!: [/img]

The new 2006 SXRDs will not have the side speakers. I think the higher end new models of the SXRD may have them but not the 2000 series which is the lower end model.

Has anyone had a chance to check out the Sony A2000 series sets yet? I was about to plunk down $3500 for the 60" XBR-1, but I did some research and found out that the 60" A2000 will be shipping in the next few weeks for $3,700. I also understand that the new TVs, unlike the XBR-1s, will accept a 1080p signal. Yes, I know there's not that much 1080p content now, but I would like to future-proof a bit.

The Internet chatter says that the only difference between the A2000s and the XBR-2s is a third HDMI input and side-mounted speakers on the latter, but that there is no difference in performance. If anyone can confirm that, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
