sonic frontiers digital question

james -- Tue, 05/30/2006 - 09:07

hi there

i own a 1993 model sonic frontiers sfd-2 digital processor
which has a transformer which has died on me.
what i need, since sf no longer exists, is a circuit diagram
for this model which will allow me to source an alternative
transformer of the same voltage.
does anybody here know what type of transformer i need?
any help much appreciated
thanks,
james.

James,

I believe Anthem still responds to Sonic Frontiers technical support questions. Try emailing the following contact to see if you can get the information you need:

sfitech [at] sonicfrontiers [dot] com

I also own Sonic Frontier DAC-1 which is the earlier version.
And still it sound so good and can compete with some of the current DACs.
James it is worth spending and maintaining this DAC. It is so very musical with vacuum tubes  and Analogue devices DAC
Sonic Fronrier DAC is very musical and that is what matters. the modern DAC's could be better specswise but ultimately it isthe music that matters.
I think you can contact PARTCONEXION or may be PART CONNECTION (i don't know how it is spelled) and try your luck

I agree that the SFD-2 is worth fixing. The UltraAnalog DACs are still the state-of-the-art, and no longer available.  Fortunately, transformers are easy to come by and interchangable.
