Shock !

Amazon has a ton of new vinyl for sale! I've been away for a few weeks, and searching the New Releases in Jazz comes out with lots of vinyl!

I tried it and I found 1 vinyl album. Searching vinyl gets you a bunch of used LPs (which is nice, but not what I thought you meant). Is there a way to see new vinyl that I might be missing?

Amazon has a dedicated Vinyl Store

The pricing doesn't look too attractive. Better to support your local dealer/retailer anyway if they carry vinyl. Any problems with warps or surface noise, you can take it back.

More shocking: I was in Best Buy yesterday, and found this -- a large aisle of vinyl. Focus seems to be on classic recordings (Who, Queen, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Springsteen), and the number of titles was probably around 100, so this isn't really a breakthrough. But still, Best Buy??!!

The story is that Best Buy started selling LPs by accident after the buyer mistakenly ordered LPs instead of CDs. They put them on the shelves and sold out immediately. Based on that success, other Best Buy locations followed suit.

Doesn't that make you wonder how they stay in business? A sucessful business has talented people who know their market. They know the exisitng product demands and spot trends.

How does a huge company like Best Buy not know that vinyl is selling?

Simply amazing to me!
