I own a Linn Axis turntable w/Akito Tonearm which I purchased new in 1991 and, over the years, have used it only occasionally in my music system. About a month ago, I noticed a "wow" in the sound when I was playing my Sheffield direct-cut LP of Dave Grusin playing piano. I played some other Lps and heard similar speed variations on sustained notes. I sent the table to the nearest Linn dealer, in Kansas City, Mo (I live in Wichita, Ks.) and while he was playing a test record checking for speed problems it totally stopped working. He called the Linn US repair facility in Fla who told him to send in the power supply board. They replaced several capacitors as I understand it, which got the table functioning again but when I got it back I could still hear the "wow" in sustained instruments such as piano. So I'm wondering if there are any other Linn Axis owners out there who have had similar problems and would be willing to give me some advice as to where I go from here. The Linn/ Axis is no longer made and I was told by the dealer , before he sent in the power supply, that it might not be repairable. So I'm wondering that if the motor is going bad that I"ll just be up "s___ creek?" Thanks.
I owned a Linn Axis for a number of years before upgrading to a Rega Planar 25. I gave my old Linn to a cousin who reports that the motor died a year after he got the table. If our experience is any indication, the wow you are noting may be the result of a dying Axis motor...
Good luck!

There are several threads on this problem on the Vinyl Engine Linn Foum :
Linn Axis, need repair help, sometimes she does not rotate
Linn Axis powersupply selfrepair info
This is a "common" problem with the Axis power supply, it seems like some of the capacitors burn out, and the table starts acting up! With the right spear caps it's a five minute jobb for most DIY hobbyists, it you're not inclined, your Linn Dealer should be able to do the repairs for You...
(I had to research this as the Guy who bought my 1991 vintage Axis experienced these kinds of symtoms with that table.. )
