Preamp for Vincent SP-331

Hi All, this is my 1st forum post!
I found Chris Martens review of Vincent SP-331 Amp and SA-31 PreAmp - before reading the review I had already taken the decision to replace the SA-31 which I believe (not proven) to be the weakest component of my system - reading the review I am more confident I took the right decision, so I would like to hear the forum opinion.
As a source I stil have (to be replaced too) an old AMC CDM7, the speakers are a pair of Usher BE-718.
Next week I will receive and try a PrimaLuna Premium Preamp, which I believe is pretty much equal in sound quality to the Primaluna Dialogue Three - I sincerly expect it to play much cleaner and with a level of detail on high frequencies and low volumes, something I am not at all pleased with the SA-31 - If I like the PL I will buy it.
My expectations are high - I really believe the SA-31 is a bit worse than even Chris evaluated two years ago, what do yhou guys think?
