Inside some power conditioners there is an isolation transformer. So, to answer your question we'd have to know which particular power conditioner we're talking about and then somehow learn how the circuitry inside was designed before being able to list differences.
how does an isolation transformer work to "clean" the power supply? is this different than other technologies (e.g. Shunyata's filtering system) that send power line " impurities" to ground?
i just had someone tell me that isolation transformers are generally superior as they isolate your system from impurities in the power line whereas other technologies that attempt to filter out impurities send them to the ground loop which still can impact your system. he also said that, if the transformer is big enough there is no worrybabout limiting your system's dynamic headroom like some power regeneration conditioners.
