I have the new Portishead "Third" LP, and it is fine (of course one copy proves nothing). I assume this is different from the one Bob refers to.

If you're referring to the 3 and a half disc box set, mine was perfect. The single sided 45rpm of Machine Gun is the most dynamic gut wrenching recording I've ever heard!
