Placing a suction fan over my receiver

Hey guys,
I just bought an Onkyo HTS 680 HTiB last week & realised the substantial heat it generates. THough, I haven't still operated at a stretch of 2 hrs or so, but it quickly heats up within 20 mins of its operation. No thermal shutdown complaint still, maybe, because I haven't checked using it for an hr or more.
Is this normal ? Have placed it on the top of my shelf with nothing blocking it from any corner.
Secondly, is it advisable to place a small suction fan over the vents, the ones used in desktop boxes ? Will this generate some electrical interference or damage the unit ?
Please advise !

Thanks !

I wouldn’t worry about it unless it’s shutting down due to thermal overload  I have never cared about the possibility of placing additional fans to cool amps unless there’s an overheating problem. By design Onkyo’s run hot just keep it WELL ventilated.

Alright ! Thanks for the info. So, you mean not to block the vents provided...thats it !

Yes, keep some space above & to the sides of it and it should be fine.
