Pigtails for Magnepans

Does anyone have an opinion on the use of tails or pigtails from the external xover box to the speaker terminals on Maggie 20.1's or 3.6's? I have heard that they offer an advantage over the short little pins that Magnepan offers as stock?

I noticed a certain amount of grain vanished when I replaced the Magnepan jumpers with lengths of speaker cable long enough to sit the xover's on the floor or preferably on some sort of small stand.
