Pair ML vantage and Magnepan 1.7 surround

Hello,
new to this forum. Wondering whether anyone has thoughts of how the new Maggie 1.7 would serve as surround speakers to Martin Logan (front speakers). My dealer thought it was not a good idea. Appreciate any comments/thoughts.
