These two made outstanding recordings in the 70's for Vox, of all companies! Their recordings were known for their full rich natural sound. Many were made with Leonard Slatkin and the St. Louis symphony orchestra. Some of these were remastered by Mobile Fidelity and have the best sound I have ever heard on SACD!
My favorite is a Gershwin album which includes "Catfish Row"(from Porgy & Bess), "An American in Paris" and "Rhapsody in Blue."
There is also a fine Prokofiev album as well as a Ravel album. Does anymore know of other recordings by this team of Nickrenz and Aubort? Does Mobile Fidelity have plans to release more of their remastered albums?
They made a fair number of recordings that were released on Nonesuch and RCA, though none of them have been remastered as SACDs. A few that come to mind are the Boston Symphony Chamber Players Schubert Octet, A few of the Slatkin recordings from the 90s of Barber and other American Composers, and quite a few of the recordings of the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble (notably one of Weill Threepenny Opera Music and Milhaud Creation of the World).
