I hooked up my oppo 970 by HDMI-1 from a Pioneer 1019. I get no sound or picture through the HDMI-1 to TV and receiver.
I renamed the HDMI-1 to DVD.
What did I do wrong? Any suggestions on how to correct situation?
I also hooked up my Sony 60 BD player through the BD HDMI and it works great.
Please Advise on proper set-up for Oppo 970 through HDMI to Pioneer HDMI-1.
The 970 was Oppo's first DVD player, and I think the problem is, that the HDMI output of there player, is not HDCP protected. I have an older JVC LCOS projection TV and could not run OPPO's later players (980/983) into the TV, because my HDMI on the JVC was not HDCP protected. So I am using the OPPO 970 machine into the TV and it works fine. Both the 970 and the JVC units dio not have the HDCP protection, so they work fine, together. Check your TV and if it does have the HDCP protection, you will not be able to use the older OPPO 970, through the HDMI. You could go through the component inputs, instead of the HDMI. That should work, without a problem..I have all 3 of the OPPO's DVD line. Have not purchased there BDP-83 yet, but that is next...Good luck...
I can confirm what Gordan said. I had the same issue and it turned out to be the HDCP.
thanks
