New MIT Oracle Matrix HD Speaker Cable

edwardce -- Tue, 05/25/2010 - 09:42

This was introduced at the Munich show along with the Magico Q5. I understand that it slots between the Magnum MA and Oracle MA products. Anyone Know more details?

Must be good if Alon Wolf used it with his new baby!

If you are going to buy from MIT, get ready for some really awful customer service.
The chick they have answering the phone doesn't know her hoohah from a hole in the ground.
And she's the brightest one of the bunch.

The good news is that huge deals on MIT cables are to be had at Equus Audio.
I was considering a $1600.00 cable (MIT Shotgun 1.3). They offered it to me for a grand.

does it make sense to build a "suitcase" in middle of the cable ?
or is it mostly done to justify the horrendous price ?

I have MIT Magnum MA cables and interconnects, and I think they are great.  My experience with the people at MIT has also been exceptional.  I have nothing but good things to say about their products and people.

I heard these at Goodwins High End during the Magico Q5 introduction/demo.  Electronic were from Spectral.  One of the Goodwins sales associates told me that the MIT Oracle Matrix HD cable retails for either $16K or $19K and that I was hearing a prototype designed specifically for the Magico/Spectral combination.  I took this to mean for an extremely extended, transparent and neutral combination.  Clearly unable to identify or isolate the sound of the cable in this system with which I was unfamiliar, I can only say that the overall sound was excellent and that the cable must have contributed somewhat to the quality of the presentation.  The box and diameter of the cable are smaller and thinner than other cables in the MIT line.

Thank you peterayer, your post provides the information I was looking for! I am glad to see that MIT continues to advance the technology of connecting amplifiers to speakers. The smaller cable diameter is an interesting twist on current design. Did you notice if the spades were the massive ones typically used on Reference level products? I believe from the picture that I saw from the Munich show that the box has a connector to the long run of cable, is that so?

 edwardce,
I can't answer your specific questions as I did not look closely at the cables.  I'm sure you could contact MIT or Goodwins High End and ask them.  Sorry.

Not a problem, peterayer. Sorry to ask too many questions. You provided more info than I have found elsewhere. I spent some time with the Q5 a few weeks ago, but not with these new cables. I am sure Goodwins presented the speakers very well. I am a Spectral, Magico, and MIT owner and these new cables intrigue me. Thanks again for your response

It interested me to hear that one of the Goodwins sales associates told you that the MIT Oracle Matrix HD cable retails for either $16K or $19K, so I'll look for more information about it.
