New to this forum, I need the experts' help! I am in the market for an upconverting DVD player with 1080i or, if I can afford it, 1080p upconversion; good video and audio quality and connectivity; and with a PC input. I plan to use the latter to input digital photos from my computer in the form of slide shows; the DVD player would therefore have to support JPEG.
After trying it out for two weeks, I returned my Samsung DVD-R135. It did a very bad job in handling my photos: distorted, fuzzy images.
From the little I read about the new Neodigit Helios H3000, I am impressed with its capabilities and am tempted to buy the unit. But I have seen no reviews, nor do I know about the experience of others with earlier DVDs made by Neodigits.
Who can help??
We i see you posted back at the start of November. I ordered a X3000 on 6th November, but there were delays in shipping so i've only just received it ( on 1st Dec).
Initial impressions good. I had some grief with the networking with their software neolink server. Eventulayy i tried instaly it on a different machine and it worked straight away.
jpegs look great at 1080i and low res xvids really are much improved.
I write again once i had a chance to do some viewing test of dvd upscaling.

oldukjuggler: I got my Helios X3000 within a week, on the day they had promised. So far played opera DVDs and JPEG photos via network connection from computer. Used optical audio out to connect to 5.1 DTS system-- very good sound (not excellent like my Onkyo DVD player though). Can't judge picture quality yet, as I will get my new Sharp 1080p TV on 12/11. Got decent pictures though on my CRT TV.
Setting up the wired network connection was very time-consuming; but it finally worked. Only problem I have encountered so far is spotty behavior of the remote control. The off-button often did not respond, so I had to push the button on the machine. I e-mailed them, got an answer the next day that they will airmail a new remote asap. Fantastic service!
