The first release in the Blu-ray based Neil Young Archives comes out on January 27, 2009. It is a 10-disc set covering 1963-1972. Amazon has it listed at $323.99.
Hopefully, the release will see the light of day. I can state for a fact that this box has been ready for release for more than four years but Young wanted to wait for the correct technology. A DVD version will also come out, and, allegedly, later, a plain CD version which will cost much less.
But I've also been told that the January date will not stick. 19 years and counting for this set. I'd really like to see/hear it.
Here, I'll hold this football, Charlie Brown, and you come running up and kick it.
The fabled "Bus Crash album" has been announced literally dozens of times over at least 15 years. I'd say I'll believe it when I see it, but I'm not sure I'll believe it even then.
Neil truly works in odd ways. He's allegedly releasing the 2000 album he recorded with Crazy Horse in the spring. Then, supposedly, Archives (which have been ready for more than 5 years, including artwork).

That's very optimistic, that "comes out."

Amazon shipped my set on Monday. Not on time, but not vaporware either.
