Hello there. I am looking for some advice on a new receiver fro my system Currently I have:
PSB T55, C-60, S-50
PS3
Samsung 6187s
Epik Conquest sub
Anti-Mode 8033 sub eq
Monster 3600mkII
Verizon Fios
Nad T755
I love the T755 for music and it does a good job for HT but it only has Audyssey speaker set up and no room coorections and can't due the new HD surrounds. Also it will not read sound from an HDMI cable and you need to use the optical cable for sound in the receiver.
I am thinking of either the Pioneer Elite SC-05 or a Dennon 3808ci. I had a Yamaha before the Nad and brought it back as it didn't sound good at all in my set up and room. I haven't listened to any Marantz yet and am open to other suggestions but it must do the following:
Play the new HD surround sounds, Have some sort of automatic room correction as my room is an open 5500 cu ft and kinda bright due to all the tile and windows, allow for Bi-Amping of the front speakers, Read sound from the HDMI cable, upconvert my sd pictures to 1080p. It must sound good with music and not be bright or harsh. Easy to use for the Wife and her music collection or she'll bury me in the yard. Good clean power and be able to support at least 6 ohm speakers and possibly 4 ohm.
I weanted to go the seperates route for the firdt time but my damn wife said it was to hard to due so I need an all in one AV receiver.
Thanks for your help and selections,
Mark
Fo around that price maybe a little more go listen to new Rotels. I would also listen to Marantz.

Thanks for the advice but my search is over as I just bought a Pioneer SC-07 for $1200.00. It si just to good a deal to pass up and I already know that I like it.
I'll post some reviews once set up.
Thanks again
I've been contemplating both the SC-05 and SC-07. I'm currently finding the 05 for $900 and have found the 07 for $1200. How do you like your 07? Was there anything besides the price that pushed you in that direction? Where did you purchase your 07? Were you happy with that transaction? Thanks!
Onkyo 906 is a killer . Around 1200 used on Amazon. You can't go wrong
Here I said it, Soccer is the REAL football..
Sorry hoss rugby is the real football and played by men. Soccer is played by school boys. American football is for miscreants and losers.
I would avoid Onyko because of connectivity and reliability issues in their products.
Rotel, Marantz, Yamaha, Sony, Denon, Pioneer
An Old Boy and fly half. Rugby has the best parties and women. Soccer has the Beckams! Enough said! One has silicon breasts and the other silicon
enhanced testicles can you tell which one has which? I can't!

You have no clue what u talking about , since you mentioned Beckham, you're clueless .
As an avid sports fan in America, watching a UEFA game /MLS the World Cup is both literally and figuratively foreign to me. Not anymore . This is America. Our sports world is in a bubble. We will declare our championship teams the World Champions of their respective leagues even though we are the only country competing. Soccer (futbol for most) is the true world sport.

No sorry rugby is the real football. Rugby has a world championship. Soccer is filled with pretty boys like Beckham and little boys/divas whose names end ino. The best rugby teams come from all over the world South Africa, France, New Zealand and even the US.
In soccer they all like to take dives in the hope of the getting a penalty,
Sorry have played Gaelic football, Australian rules football, American football, soccer and rugby.
Rugby takes the most endurance, speed, upper and lower body strength and skill. Soccer is for divas. I was good enough to play for the US team back in my day in rugby.
We also have the best looking women not some 12DDD-12-12 silicon enhanced twig like Posh Beckham. Our women drink and some actually play the sport too. Can you see Posh landing on her airbags when tackled. Damn hard take a corner kick in your 6in spike CFM Jimmy Choos. And our women look great in hot little outfits from Bebe.
The great writer Hemingway said there are only two real sports Bull Fighting and Auto racing. I will add a third sheep herding trials. Herding trials are the toughest sport I have ever competed in that includes rugby, sailing Lasers and endurance racing at places like Spa, Monza, Sebring, the Glen and a little place where they hold a 24 hour race every June Mans. In herding trials you have humans, sheep and your dog each has a brain and can think. Its like Le Source changing direction randomly.
Rotel sounds the best to me and Marantz second. Room correction by Audessey is great but I take sound over it anyday

Mark,
I just wanted to offer some responses to your original post.
I think I understand the limitations you face with your current AVR, but did want to point out that since your NAD T755 has Audyssey it does indeed have room correction (all forms of Audyssey seen in AVRs--2E, MultEQ, MultEQ XT--are combination speaker setup/room EQ systems).
Given the sonic profile and ease-of-use profile you specify, I would suggest looking specifically at Onkyo and Marantz models. Here's my reasoning.
1) The Onkyo and Marantz receivers fit your sonic requirements; they sound good, offer natural richness and warmth, and are not bright or harsh.
2) Both brands will fit your requirements for HDMI audio, support HD surround sound codecs, 1080p upscaling, and (I think) offer the option of bi-amping your main speakers.
3) Both brands offer Audyssey room EQ, which is particularly effective when you want to create a large, well-balanced "sweet spot" that can accommodate multiple listeners at once (you and your wife, for example). Audyssey also does a good job of creating balanced sound in bright-sounding rooms.
4) Both brands offer remotes that are fairly easy to master (i.e., you won't wind up buried in the back yard)
5) The prices for several models from each manufacturer will fit within your budget parameters.
What about the other brands? Rotel: no room EQ. Yamaha: Yamaha's latest YPAO speaker setup/room EQ system works well, but it yields a characteristically lighter/brighter sound than Onkyo and Marantz AVRs deliver (my guess was that the Yamaha "house sound" would not fit your tastes). Denon: Denon AVR's I've reviewed sounded slightly brighter than comparable Marantz and Onkyo units, and their remotes were--how shall I put this?--likely to cause your wife to start digging a pit for you in the backyard (the Denon remote's I've tried have been hyper-versatile, but very far from intuitive). Sony and Pioneer: potentially good candidates. I can't comment 'til Playback gets a chance to review the most recent series of AVRs from these manufacturers. Higher end NAD: fits your profile, but perhaps not your budget.
Re: Onkyo. Playback has had several different Onkyo AVRs on long-term loan, and we've not experienced any connectivity or reliability problems of the type sheepherder cautions about--not even when switching out associated equipment on a regular basis, or when playing back-to-back action film sequences at relatively high volume levels. True, Onkyo receivers do tend to run relatively warm to the touch and their cooling fans are at times audible in dead quiet rooms, but the same can be said of many AVRs.

sheepherder,
Though this has nothing to do with AVRs, I just wanted to say I thought your comments on rugby were right on target. I've only recently been exposed to the sport by some friends from Ireland (who are, naturally, teaching me to root for the--I am told--legendary Munster club). It's a wildly entertaining sport to watch, and one that is--no doubt about this one--played by seriously manly men. I wish it would catch on in a big way here in the U.S.
Best,
Chris Martens (newly minted rugby fan)
