NAD T175/C162/T975 matching

Ladies and gentlemen:  I need help in matching volumes/gain for my system.  I have been using Nad T175 preamp with T975 to listen to music via analog bypass.  The thing is, I was splitting the front signal at the preamp to bi-amp using the front and surroundback channels on the amplifier.  But I thought that I was losing some impedance by splitting so I decided (following R Harley's book) to use the C162 for all my analog conncetions.  All of a sudden the soundstage opened up however I can barely adjust the volume on the c162 past the 9:00 o'clock.  I tried adjusting the gain on the amplifier but this is no easy feat to match exacly all the channels (fronts, sbacks).  What is the best way to do it so I can adjust the volume on c162 to about 11:00 o'clock.  Now, I am connecting T175 front outputs to the video (sound) connection on the c162.  But again it is difficult to use the remote control as it would adjust both.  Thanks for your help.  By the way my analog path: NAD c542 (coaxial) to Monarch upsampler (via AEB EBU) to MSBTech Nelson DAC III and then onto the C162.  Speakers are KEF iq9s.
