Would any owners, past or present, of this table care to comment on it? I've been considering buying one and would appreciate any comments/opinions good, bad, ugly, or indifferent.

Thanks,  Sam

I tried to respond to this before, but it did not post. Let me try again. I bought the 5 for my wife a few years ago. We had a pretty good turntable, arm and cartridge combination in our main rig which was about 40% more expensive than the 5 was. As we usually do when we get a new component, we frist hooked it up in the main rig. The other turntable never made it back. To this day, the 5 is in the main rig. We love it.

I bought a MMF 5 in 2006 and I love it. Great sound, great value.

Slovel, As long as you have good power it is a great table, but will (in my words) freak out if you have either high voltage or low voltage issues on your power company transmission lines .  I wasn't looking for a hand out, but rather trouble shooting advice.15 years in HVAC, followed by 18+ years in level 2 and level 3 mid-range (AIX/UNIX O/S) computer support says that I can trouble shoot.  To make matters worse Roy Hall (whose firm I attempted to get advice from) is (in my opinion) technically inept when it come to power issues.  Again this is a personal opinion based on my experience.
Long story, but as a customer I got the full venomous arrogant superiority treatment a couple of years ago and Roy was flat wrong on all counts .  I live in Independence, MO which creates it's own power.  We had old dirty (failing) power transformers in our subdivision and it took over 9 months for all the bad units to be changed out.  My from 98 to 135 volts and that naturally drove the derive motor at erratic speeds.
I got lucky and had the turntable checked out at Primus Audio Pleasure, in downtown KC, MO on a Saturday when the local rep who handles the Trip-Lite Audio line just happened to be in the audio store.  Trip-Lite is commercially well known for its heavy duty commercial UPS and Transmission Line Filtering systems, but also has a consumer power protection line.  My MMF 5 tested almost dead on center speed wise.  I ordered a Trip-lite LRD 96-43 which cleared up all the issues.
Great product and a questionable importer is my opinion based on personal experience and Roy’s rabid attacks at the press.  Just remember that MMF stands for “Make Money Fast”.
