I was thinking about adding an sacd player and as I have never had sacd,s or sacd players,Iwondered how a stereo sacd player does play back the multichannel sacds?
There are several ways a multichannel SACD player can handle a multi-channel SACD.
Many multi-channel SACDs also have a stereo track. You can set up your player so it will default to this track if given the option. Most SACD players also have built-in down-mix capabilities. You can set up the player so that multi-channel recordings will be automatically down-mixed by the machine. Some players have two-channel analog outputs that will automatically give you a two-channel down-mix.
I recommend looking at a copy of an SACD player's owner's manual before purchase to make sure the SACD player you are considering handles two-channel down-mixes in a manner that you find acceptable. If you browse manufacturer's websites you should have no trouble finding owner's manuals.
