Multi-room Amplification

scottsquared -- Mon, 08/21/2006 - 06:06

I prewired my home for cable, sound, and LAN. My home theatre receiver, Yamaha RX-V2300, claims dual room capability. I have set speaker "B" to run my ohm matching speaker selector for every other room in the house besides the home theatre. No secondary amplifier used.

Yamaha has the tendency to shut itself down when used more than slightly. Warranty period over. Looking at new receiver, possibly NAD T763. Does anyone see something that I may be doing wrong? Should I have a separate amp to run my speaker selector for the other rooms? I am not necessarily looking for dual sources, just more speakers throughout the house.

You might consider NAD's separate amplifier and controller rather than receiver for driving whole-house audio. Multiple loudspeakers put a signficiant demand on an AVR; separate multichannel amplifiers are better able to handle this challenging condition.

Robert,
Thank you kindly for your reply. Could you be a bit more specific in your recommendations? I am cruising the NAD site, but I remain a little bewildered by the shear amount of information and the vast number of choices.

Thank You for your valuable time,

Scott
