film2home launches bittorrent service
film2home.com, the leading service for Electronic Sell Through (EST) and Video-on-Demand (VoD) in the Nordic region, today announced it´s launch of a new peer-to-peer service, “film2home P2P”, based on bittorrent technology. With this service, film2home hopes to make it easier for people to download legally.
Apart from the possibility to use filesharing software to download movies legally, users who share the purchased file with other film2home customers will also receive a sum of money, depending on how large the file is and how many others are distributing the same file. The more movies you share, the more money you get on your account. The money can be used to purchase and download more movies, or be taken out in cash.
The development is made in cooperation with the movie service Ameibo, and by using the same platform the two services hopes to help spread the usage of legal downloading together.
Commenting on the launch, Cecilia Versteegh, founder of film2home, said:”- We have for a long time tried to develop legal solutions using filesharing technology in a way that is accepted by film studios. As first step we offer approximately 1000 movies, but we hope to increase the catalogue with more movies from major studios as soon as possible. We try in every way to create the largest service for downloading and streaming in the Nordic region, and we are convinced that consumers want to pay for themselves if movies are available in an easy way.”
