The use of measurements in the Mini I review and the Mini II discussion have heightened my sensitivity to TAS reviews. This month I'm reading the Elipsa review and there is no objective data of any kind for this "Italian Masterpiece." We can't even get a baseline comparison against the Golden Ear Kharma, which Garcia has spent a great deal of time with. Couldn't we have heard something about how it compares to other reference products??? How does it compare to something like the holy grail Magico Mini? How far does it turn towards beauty, and away from truth? These questions are left unanswered.
Guys, why does TAS's feel like I'm reading the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition? All of this subjective information really doesn't tell me anything unless it is complimented with measurements AND compared against another product. Otherwise its like reporting that Adriana Lima is beautiful. Duh! Doesn't mean I want to live with her. Could you tell me a bit more about what she's really like? Help me to understand how she compares to other women? What's her IQ? What language does she speak, etc.
I came away with the same feeling about the Furutech Transmission System. At $1,200 for an interconnect, shouldn't there be some kind of objective testing of this product? Is it that difficult to do a sign wave test, a frequency test, a resolution test, etc. on cables? Surely there is a way to prove some of these claims.
Today I received an offer to subscribe to TAS for 2 years for the price of one. And on most circumstances this would be a fantastic deal. But when I'm not really getting much more usable data than what can be found in the manufacturers' marketing, I have to ask what is the point?

Are you kidding?! you ask TAS (or others) to be professional?
Comparing to procuct objectively means (in most of case) to tell where the speaker is bad/or to put a manufacturer speaker above another one : no way, the reviewers are not journalists you know...they are advertiser's assistant.
By the way i've just audition the "italian masterpeice" it is a piece of shit.
I don't say that ti tell bad stuff, it is real these spaekers are bad to death (deaf?).
Boxy, bass are constiped, NOTHING enjoyable in them (exept the design).
Now wonder why, no one have answer to your post...
With my experience of those three speakers, Elipsa is far better that others.
This is a great post, exactly the kind of thing I like to read. First of all, I choose not to comment on which speaker is better or worse, as there really are so many variables involved that in the right situation even what we call “a bad speaker” can be made to sound pretty good or vs. versa. But, on the topic of TAS not providing real world data, all I can say is “welcome to the new world order”, I agree with Samuel33 regarding this topic, nobody seems to have the guts to provide the truth
