mg 3.6 a briliiant choice or a big mistake?

Hello All, I have come through several topics discussing planars,,and I am at the edge of making a decision.
my set up consists of  ARC ref 3 pre, ARC VS 115 power amp and ARC ref 7 cd player. and I am trying to find the right speakers for this set up with a warm, clear sound having a wide soundstage (easy to drive with my tube amp even at low volumes),,,the budget is 10000 usd and the room size is 50m2.
I listened to maggie 3.6 and liked its sound, however the coupled ampl was more powerful than mine.
do you think the vs 115 (120 watts tubed ampl) may easily drive the 3.6?
Note: I mostly listen to vocal jazz, rock, indie rock and little bit of classical.
cheers.

Go to the blogs and follow JV's ARC/Maggie thread.  He'll be trying the VS-115 with the 1.7.  Hope that helps.

I'm quite jealous of your system...must sound delightful...I've had Maggies in the past and once having them you get quite spoiled. Nevertheless with a 10K budget, I'd look for Audiogon, second hand, Wilson Sophia's without a second thought.
Cheers,
WW

With 10 Grand you could buy the 3.6, get an active crossover, a solid state ARC amp and bi-amp the 3.6 with your VS115 on top and the SS amp on the bass. Best of both worlds (at least for me it is).
Cheers!

thank you all for sharing your views. I will be considering all of them.
I also look for Sophias as well. but due to the place where I live, you can not find many options at second hand. I will keep on searching. thanks again.

Post eaten by spam filter. Pissed. But to summarize, bi amping good idea, will eat any amount of power you throw at them up to 2500 Watts or so, and consider used 20.1's, there are some for sale now on Audiogon.
