Is anyone aware of the difference between the 101E and the 101E Mk 2 and whether there is a worthwhile upgrade path?

The main difference is in the woofers and related box. If by upgrade path, you mean a way to modify a 101e, I do not believe there is an option for this (other than trading whole speakers).
