Martin Logan Spire review?

RichTeer -- Fri, 09/26/2008 - 12:13

Hi all (especially TAS staffers),

I was wondering if there are any plans to review Martin Logan's (relatively) new Spire speaker, and if so roughly when it'll be published?

We'll check into it. MartinLogan's The Source turned out to be a stunning value at $2k.

Jonathan Valin currently has the new CLX for review.

Has anybody done a side by side comparison of the Martin Logan Summits with the Martin logan Spires yet? I'm at a loss and not sure which one is the better of the two and want to purchase one or the other. They seem to be priced relatively the same range for the moment, whether new vs used. Help????

Spire vs Summit.
Go for the Spire. I did. Its more transparent, has better focus, better dynamacs and it is cheper. It is simply a better speaker than the Summit.  Perhaps the best Speaker Martin Logan has ever made. Perhaps the best speaker availibly for money today.
I use Ayre amps and Crystal Ultra speakercables.
Sorry if my english is poor.

Best regards

The Summit has been discontinued, to be replaced by the upcoming Summit X with a considerable price increase.  Try for a used pair of Summit's.  I keep hearing about a do-it-yourself electronic upgrade.

"Try for a used pair of Summit's."

I knew that the Summits had been discontinued. I also read that the Spires were much better than what M/L originally planned for upon their debut. I am trying to figure out what I should purchase between the two - the Spires or Summits as both fall into my price range in used condition. However there are no dealers in my area so I can not test them and do not know if one is better sound than the other or are they comparable? I just sold my pair of Requests and I am familiar with its sounds - so are the Summit or Spires similar? Which is better if one is compared to the other?

well I made a commitment to purchase a pair of summits! Now can anybody advise me on a good 2 channel amp for these? i have a budget up to $2500 for it that should work well with my vpi turntable Mcintosh c220 preamp. Some say the Parasound A21 or Jc1??? But  I don't have room for mono blocks and I never heard Parasound so at a loss. help! Matt

Why spend so much money on speakers, when Bose puts out a far superior product. Don’t overspend, buy Bose.

why buy bose, when you could save money and buy some used 6x9 car speakers at a garage sale?

Yep, who would want  all that detail, sound stage and beautiful music from electrostatic speakers when you could have compresed, dull sound sprayed all over your room. jeez, Bose spends so much money on advertising, they must be better.
