Just came back from the 2010 Audio Show in Lisbon. Was a nice surprise to see/hear the Magico Q5 playing here. I was told it is the world premier of the an actual production pair. Paired with the new DarTZeel it was the most amazing audio presentation I have ever heard. The sound was magnificent! I have heard the M5 here last year, same room (different electronics). Have to say this time it was an entirely different/new experience.

Nice try - the real Rui Pereira is our Secretary of State here in Portugal. I wonder who you might be, but have a pretty good guess that your real initials are AW. Would that be safe to assume?
And before you try to claim that there is more than one Rui Pereira in the world - Pereira is a very uncommon name, and there are none in the phonebook here with the first name Rui.
Last, just in case you try to claim that you are indeed the Secretary of State - let me assure you that he did not visit the show.
Let's stop with the silly games, shall we?
I have no horse in this race (nor any phony moniker), but for the record you might want to take a look at what HiFi+'s Alan Sircom, a man not typically given to excess, had to say about the Q5 demo in Portugal. Go to http://www.avguide.com/blog/show-report-audioshow-2010 and read the third paragraph.
That was a remarkable statement especially since -judging by the very limited view- the room seemed like nothing special. The only question I have if that fact alone should bring the conclusion into question. Of course, they were driven by 1kW, $150K amps... Anyhow, I'm scheduled for an extended listen as soon as they arrive at the dealer. They are so compact and good looking that I hope they are, to me too, all that Sircom says they are. If so, they're VERY reasonably priced.

Rui,
I've heard the Magicos, and found them to be excellent speakers. My question is about the DarTZeel--could you offer a comment on that unit, separating it from what the speakers were doing--tough question, but one I'd like to have an answer to. I am really interested in that unit--for some reason, I feel, (just a gut feeling) that this unit is magical.
I found the M5's to be very good. The 3's (hope I have the model #'s correct) sounded somewhat 'hooded' for want of a better description. They did not have an overall aliveness in the harmonics of the mid and upper mids. Did you experience this, was it me, was it my 'road ears' from having driven two hours to hear them?
Thanks,
JV - thanks for the link. Looks like a friendlier place to post a positive remarks on Magico these days.
bosell - some of the rooms were neutrally very good sounding. I do not remember any room treatment in the Imacustica room. The new B&W 805 sounded very good as well.
Jose - sorry you had to go through the phone book. Should have been obvious to you that it is only a moniker. Next time I will be the president. Just relax and go listen to some music.
Looking forward to hearing it at CES next week
How excited recent M5 purchasers must be to read this review!
I hope they comeout with q versions of v2 v3 mini at 50% of price like the M and Q. At least more people could afford it.
That would be interesting
