Maggie 1.7 vs. Aerius i

Hi Jonathon Valin.  I just read your article on the Maggie 1.7s.  I would like your input on these vs the Martin Logan Aerius i's I currently run.  I have them in a small, 12'x 12' square room.  I am driving them with all Krell electronics.  I would like to know if in your opinion, the Maggies would offer a better overall presentation at low to moderate volume levels?  I listen to mostly rock, indie rock, alternative rock and sometimes stuff like Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, etc.  But, I use lower volume levels.  I want presence and life, lighter rather than darker sound.  Thanks in advance.  -Bob.

That seems like a small room to keep the 1.7s to extract the best out of them.  They need to be kept away from the back walls for sure and that too several feet and your listening chair should not be right next to the back wall.....At least the 1.6 were like that....the performance degraded significantly on those when crammed into smallish rooms and with weak power amps.

Well, right now Im using the ML Aerius and two subwoofers and it sounds good.  They are 3 feet from the back wall and 2 or so feet from the side walls.  Since they reflect little sound from the sides, they sound good in my small room.  Likewise, the Maggies do not reflect sound from the sides, so I was wondering if they would be viable?  -Bob.
