Look for a model that is about to be replaced......ex. I got my flat screen for 1/2 the origional price because the company announced that its coming out with newer model.........and over time best buy kept dropping the price.....which they match each time if its within a certain amount of time.  By the time my product was at its last numbers and least price I got them to match the prices few times and it was $1000 less then what I paid at the same store. When the newer model came out it was atleast 3 times more than the price of my TV which is still stunning.

Props for the Panasonic Plasmas.  They are stupid good.  Lets face it, as good as the high-end LED LCD panels are getting, a plasma is what an LCD wants to be when it grows up.  Right now the 42" TC-P42G15s are available for around $950.  And out of your budget that leaves enough for a Blue-Ray disc, a wall mount, a good surge supressor and cables. All of which you either really need (surge supressor, cables, wall mount) or want (Blue-Ray).  The panel is only the beginning.
