Leaving a receiver on all the time

I turn my A/V receiver on and off several times a day ( for watching TV). Is it better to leave it on all day or maybe even leave it on all the time?

Depends what better means. For your electricity bill, turning it on and off is better. For sound, leaving it on all day is probably better. For longevity, it probably depends on your receiver. Mine gets pretty hot, and so it may be better to turn it off, though I'm not aware of any testing on this subject.
