LCD display for digital photos in 1080p resolution?

Anyone else that wants to display digital photos in 1080p resolution on a large LCD or plasma HDTV screen?

I have a 42" Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV and have to decide quickly whether connecting the Aquos to an HP Pavilion m9100z desktop computer via the HDMI port of the HP will do the job.

It seems that a display in 1280x1024 pixel resolution should be possible if the signal output from the HP is in a PC format (whatever that means?).
But to take full advantage of the 1920x1080 resolution of the Aquos display, I would probably need an HDMI video signal output from the HP.

Who has successfully done this kind of thing and can help me with advice?

If this approach would not work, I have read that someone has connected a Sony play station PS3-80GB to his HDTV and succeeded to get his photos displayed in 1080p resolution. Any comments on this??

I've done 1024x768 attached to a 720p TV, using a component/VGA break-out box. I don't think you'll have any trouble, but just try it. I don't think a PC can output a signal via HDMi that can hurt a display.
