Has anyone actaully heard these subs? I know JL audio is the King of Car Stereo subwoofers so I am wondering hw they translate to the home audio market.

I heard these subs at the CEDIA confernence a couple seasons ago as they were being put into production (some delays have ensued since). the sound was scary huge but pitch defined and musical. It hit concert levels that can flip your stomach. Most subs tend to fold their tent when high output and the lowest extension is demanded of them at once- Certainly the JL Fathom seemed to have this issue well in hand. This is one story I'm interested in following. Looking forward to CM's review
I'll confirm Neil Gader's report of the outstanding demo JL Audio put on. They played action soundtracks at pant-rattling levels, and then switched to Bill Evans, showcasing the fact that their subwoofers are not just air movers, but truly musical products that offer uncompromised performance on both music and movies.
I'm also looking forward to Chris' review.

I am actually a JL Audio Home Authorized Dealer. I received my first shipment a couple of weeks ago.
They are both VERY impressive!
The output is incredible but what I think is even more impressive is how musical the subs are. The Automatic Room Optimization (A.R.O.) is one of the best calibration systems (from a manufacturer) I have ever used.

I am getting all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it. I remember the first time I cranked up my JL W6's in my car when I was seventeen. Here I am 7 years later just waiting to crank up the new subs in my house
I've just wrapped up my TPV review of the Fathom f112, and I would say it is a reference class subwoofer, pure and simple. Deep bass extension, clarity, transient speed, and freedom from overhang/sluggishness--the f112 has it all. It's also dead-simple to set up.
The only caveats are:
1) This sub will unequivocally reveal anything in your listening room that's apt to shake, rattle, vibrate or buzz.
2) In larger rooms, you might need to use two f112s (or step up to the f113 or Gotham g213).
The TPV Audio Lab will be using a pair of f112s as its low-frequency reference in the future.
TPV has a review in progress on the JL Audio Fathom 112. Stay tuned for updates as we learn more.
Best,
