We've heard the need for the PDF format and we're in the process of updating our overall magazine offering. We had to find a way to provide the PDF that works with the business. While we've been providing the individual PDF files available at no charge since moving to our current reader in the coming weeks we will be providing the option for users to purchase an annual subscription as well as individual issues. Of course we will be continuing to offer the free online version. As always we're trying to get you the best content in the format you want.
Important “heads-up:” We recognize that the PDF version of Playback is important to many of our readers, but also need a solution that makes good business sense. So, beginning with Playback 17, we will charge a small, nominal fee for the PDF download version of the magazine, with pricing as follows: 99 cents per issue or $4.99 for a year's subscription (12 issues).
The online edition will, as always, be provided free of charge.
You had mentioned that the online version of Playback will remain available to the public free of charge. But starting from your July issue I can not get access to the entire magazine online, as I used to prior to the July Issue. The only parts of the July issue that seem to be available on line are the articles for which you are providing a link in the home-page.
Is this a new policy that you have started implementing beginning with the July Issue, or is it that I don't know how to view the entire magazine online as was possible before?
Thanks for your response.
what happened? newest issue #15 is not available in pdf version? this happened to winding road a few months ago.
Issue 15 and now issue 16, what gives.
I like to read offline as well, and use it as reference material

I agree, we MUST be able to download the mag.
Anyhow I have just unsubscribed. IF downloading is allowed again I may re-subscribe.

I figured out how to download PB15.pdf last month, but I can't remember how I did it! I'd be happy to email it to anyone, but it's 54Mb!
I'd sure like to download PB16.pdf.
Use http://files.avguide.com/PB 16 downloadable.pdf for the latest, http://files.avguide.com/PB15.pdf.zip for the previous. It'd be nice if they'd standardize!
In response to reader feedback, we are offering the latest issue of Playback (Issue 16) in two forms:

That's disappointing! I may be unsubscribing, too.
There is a very simple solution to this, at least as long as Playback Magazine offers the possibility to print the online magazine, as they are today.
With PDF-print drivers such as PDF-Xchange ( http://www.docu-track.com/) or CutePDF writer (<http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp>) or PDF995 (<http://www.pdf995.com/>)
one can print the online magazine to a PDF file.

Dirk
