How to Connect: 1 DAC / Multiple CD Players-1 active @ once

Question for all you smart people out there
I need to connect 2 sony CDP-555 400xCD players to a DAC (Musical Fidelity) that has only one optical input. Only one of the CD Players will play at one time as they are both controlled by ONE Escient Tune base. I have bought a splitter for the optical output that I am using in reverse but it does not work. Any ideas ideas? I greatly appreciate.
Best,
Samanito

Sometimes reversing a splitter works, but in the case of optical Toslink connections you have discovered it will not work.

You will need some sort of active switching device or Toslink to coax converter..

I often use my Meridian 518 when I need more than one digital input into a DAC, but it only supplies a single Toslink input.

I suggest looking at Markertek or some other professional audio catalog for an active switcher. A Toslink to Coax converter should be less than $200.
